December 1 is the First Sunday of Advent—“Old Promises Made New” is the theme, as we hear God’s assuring us through the prophets that a better world was on its way, and Jesus’ declaration that that world, the reign of God, was near at hand. We will get a foretaste of the kingdom in our communion meal. Victoria and Wyle Beyer light the Advent wreath. December 8 is the Second Sunday of Advent—“Seeing How Things Are” As hopes stir for a better future, we assess how far we are from where God wants to take us, individually and together. In Matthew 3:1-12, John the Baptizer point us forward and calls us to repent so we can get there from here. The Lisotto family will light our candles. December 15 is the Third Sunday of Advent—“God Breaks In” If you trust in God’s promises, you don’t need to be disappointed in the present. Parking
Street parking is available on the blocks close to the church. On Sunday mornings Center Avenue is open to parking on both sides of the street. Sunday morning parking is also available at Weddell – Ajak funeral home. Their parking lot is located two blocks from the Church (on the corner of Center and First Streets). Three parking places behind the building (access via the alley) are available on a first come first serve basis on Sunday and are generally reserved for church use during the week. … [Read more...]
