DESCRIPTION:Life Line Screening\, the nation’s leading provider of preventive health screenings\, will offer affordable\, non-invasive and painless health screenings at Aspinwall Presbyterian Church on Saturday\, July 27\, 2024. \nA package of four screenings to identify risk for stroke\, heart disease and other chronic conditions will be offered: \nCarotid Artery Screening (Plaque) \nAn ultrasound is performed to screen the carotid arteries (a pair of blood vessels in the neck that deliver blood to your brain) for buildup of fatty plaque. This buildup\, called atherosclerosis\, is one of the leading causes of stroke. \nPeripheral Arterial Disease Screening\nAn Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) test is performed using blood pressure cuffs on the arms and legs. It is important to screen for PAD because it increases the risk of coronary artery disease\, heart attack\, or stroke. \nAbdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)\nAn ultrasound is performed to screen the abdominal aorta for the presence of an enlargement or aneurysm. AAA can lead to a ruptured aortic artery\, which is a serious medical emergency. \nAtrial Fibrillation\nA 6-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) is performed by placing sensors on the arms and legs to screen for Atrial Fibrillation. They intend it to feel more like a casual restaurant than a “soup kitchen”—attendees are served at tables rather than lining up\, and those of us who serve will join them for a meal when the food has been distributed. \nMeals are served at 6:00 at 801 Main St. in Sharpsburg.

DESCRIPTION:It’s some people’s favorite service and it is our best way to connect with our neighbors! Come at 10 am on Saturday the 29th\, with or without a pet. Invite a friend or neighbor! \nIt’s a simple\, informal service (usually 30 minutes or so) to celebrate creation\, with pastors fanning out to pray with each pet individually. We will also pray with photos of pets or pets in absentia. \nDogs and cats are always welcome.  We’ve had some horses brought over to be blessed\, who made quite a hit with everyone.
