The Music Program
at
Aspinwall Presbyterian Church

The Music Program at Aspinwall Presbyterian Church is open to all ages.  Choir rehearsals for all groups run from September through May.  We are always looking for new members in all choirs.  Previous choral experience is not required, just the desire to praise God through your talents. Instrumentalists are also encouraged to provide special music.  Make yourself known to any choir member or Lynne Williams, Director of Music.

The Chancel Choir is open to adults and high school students.  Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.  The choir meets on Sunday mornings at 10:30 to prepare for the 11:00 a.m. service.  The Chancel Choir sings every Sunday, to lead the congregation in worship through music.

The Joyful Noise Choir is for children K-6th Grade.  Rehearsals are every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m., prior to Sunday School.  The choir sings approximately 6 times during the church year.

The Bell Choir is an inter-generational choir that rehearses after church on Sunday morning.  The 2 octave Malmark handbells are used regularly to enhance hymns and anthems. The Bell Choir plays special music approximately 3 times a year.

Special opportunities for Chancel Choir members include the Pittsburgh Chapter of PAM (Presbyterian Assoc. of Musicians) annual Choir Festival, featuring a mass choir performing music of a guest composer/conductor. Members of the Chancel Choir provide special music during the summer months in addition to guest instrumentalists and singers.

The Joyful Noise Choir members have the opportunity to participate in a Children’s Choir Festival, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Chapter of Choristers Guild. This festival is held annually for upper elementary children and features a nationally known composer/conductor. The festival provides the opportunity for small choirs to experience the joy of singing in a large choir.

Bell Choir members are given the opportunity to attend handbell workshops and festivals sponsored by the area American Guild of English Handbell Ringers.
